Operation modes: Extender operates in two modes

Standard browsing mode- Here both bands extended

Fast lane mode- In this mode either 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz extends but also the range is increased

Besides this, the device has 5 GB ethernet ports to function as a bridge. The device is quite bigger as compared to other devices but good in performance. 501.11ac WiFi technology also makes it the best extender in the market.

How to Set Up:

Available in two setup methods

WiFi protected Service (WPS) method-

  • Put the router and extender in the same room and power ON the Netgear EX6200 extender 
  • Connect with electrical output and wait until the green light ON
  • If the link status light glows like a white, shows the connection between router and extender is fine
  • Move extender to a new place
  • Put your WiFi-enabled device at low router coverage area
  • Now connect this device to the extender network

Note: If your router supports the 5GHz band, your extender will try to connect with 5GHz band support first and if the same not done it will further create lots of issues during the Netgear extender setup process

Manual method-

  • First two steps the same as in the WPS method
  • Now Link router and extender, launch the web browser on your device entering mywifiext.net.
  • The installation method appears and follows accordingly
  • Put the extender in the midway of the router and low coverage area and Now connect the devices with the extender network (WiFi)

How to do FastLane setup on EX6200 extender:

It basically maximizes the performance

  • Firstly, confirm to connect router and EX6200 extender
  • On your device just start the web browser e.g. Google Chrome
  • Do enter after typing mywifiext
  • User id and password need to enter to proceed further
  • In genie page go to ‘Do More’ and after that ‘FastLane option’
  • The previous step will reflect two options-
    • Device to the extender, 4 GHz and Extender to the router; 5 GHz
    • Device to extender; 5 GHz and Extender to the router; 4GHz
  • Any choice may be taken then save

FIRMWARE update on EX6200 extender:

Updation of firmware software of extender required, If any odd behavior and speed issue occurred.

So make sure to update the firmware to the latest version and below find the process of upgradation-

  • Switch ON extender
  • Then connect it with the router
  • Open any web browser
  • Enter after typing mywifiext.net and then log in
  • On the setting, option choose the firmware upgrade and check
  • If required to upgrade, click yes to proceed further
  • It takes a while to upgrade
